Henny Hunt Review 10/10

Henny Hunt by Chicago artist Rodes is a phenomenal hip-hop album from an emcee who knows the meaning of lyrical talent and masterful mixing. Rodes' first album since 2016 showcases the artist’s struggles and triumphs from start to finish with help from producers Dacypha Beats, Bootleg Da Producer, and The 7th Son who work together on separate tracks. Henny Hunt was born by the mastermind label Huntside Music and recorded at Ground Zero Studios.

The seven-track album has variations in each song to complete an entire story. "Enebriation" is an intro with a flawless flow reminiscent of old school hip-hop artists such as The Notorious B.I.G. "Shots" is a jazzy example with recognizable samples and a tribute to the world of rap and Rodes' own history. "Bars" is a necessary follow up with impressive features from fellow artists Knowshon, Karixmatik, and Chane to give listener's the story of the city through their own headphones.

"Beige Fluid" is next to bring out a party anthem theme that deserves to be played loud through the speakers with the bass turned up. "Loose Squares" features all the attitude of Chicago rap and a story from the Midwest. "Blazin" is a chill out track that can also be a club anthem to get peoples dancing with a reggae aspect from featured artist, Jah Will. Finally, "Sobriety" finishes off Henny Hunt with the same retro appeal of the intro and a lyrical glimpse into the life of an experienced artist who deserves a spot in the charts.

Henny Hunt gives listeners a view into Rodes' mind with messages of struggles and triumphs from his world living in Chicago. This talented artist keeps the spirit alive to showcase songs that will get the crowd moving. Fans of classic rappers and new school hip-hop artists alike will enjoy the diverse appeal of Rodes' tracks and his featured guests on this album. This seven-track record is enjoyable from its catchy intro through the last song with substance and style spread throughout the album. Henny Hunt is available on all platforms after August 18, 2020 to play loud on your speakers or through your earbuds. 10/10!

RODES ALBUM REVIEW

R IV: A True Hip Hop Album With A Taste You Can’t Get Rid Of

Classic Jazz and classic hip hop sound is the first sound that hits when you listen to Rodes self titled album which is a breath of fresh hip hop air that is totally needed in a time when every song sounds the same. R IV is Rodes in his element in his 5th album release and this sound just draws into the album proper as the melodious Kings track featuring Blacc Suhn, Kadiz and Knowshun picks things up and talks about a more difficult subject that a lot of creatives shy from because it is not cool enough.

The best on all the tracks on R IV are simple and soothing in a way that doesn’t take away the vibe out of the lyrics. This is quite great so you are not worried about the beat being the main or interesting part of each song. If you know hip hop, you know the beats doesn’t overshadow the song and Rodes stays true to this gospel especially on the song Pastor.

The Edge is without a doubt one of the hardest songs in the album and yet again, you can pick Rode’s words with lyrics that are refreshing when you consider the fact that mumble is the new cool. Nevamind gives The Edge a run for its money before Playa Talk with BC gives you that LOX feel and you would be forgiven if you thought the song has Styles P and Jadakiss on it.

Rodes, the album named track is laced on a Kanye type beat with lyrics to match and do I love it how Rodes goes hard on mumble rap folks on acknowledge da God? You bet I do and Fashawn who is featured on the track also brings the fire like he got some scores to settle.

“They” know eases the sound a beat and it’s classic driving song with your shorty by your side and then Facts speaks the truth that everyone should adhere to and this shows what music should be about; A message!!

10 piece Spicy takes us away and also touches on police brutality in a way that is so triggering and he paints a picture that we can’t deny is the reality of a black man not just in the United States but all over the world.

Rodes is one act that is sticking to his truth in ways that other acts don’t and the album R IV is a testament to the fact that true hip hop will never die! v

Nevamind Review

Many years back, the world of Hip hop gave birth to this vocal delivery of rhythm and rhymes called rap. And now it's gone on for many years producing top lyricists who can get you high on their words. Same lyrical quality does Rodes exhibit as he pours out his heart on his new jam.
What’s so special about this guy? His lyrics are deliberate and real. While some rappers would strife hard to challenge for awards. Rodes seems to have his focus on a different cause. Perhaps he'll go on to be a force to reckon with low-key as he follows the footsteps of many great emcees from his home town, Chicago.
He might not be a world-renowned rapper but he works hard and he spits real.  Since he started stringing words together in 1994. Rodes has gone on to release top notch tracks as The Edge, Kicking Back and Tanite among others.
When Rodes grabs the mic, you listen, and you know he has intent. And that's one thing that sets his kind apart from the majority. This fresh “Neva Mind” track is nothing short of the meaningful lyrics for which Rodes is known.
Rodes goes solo on this track. Nevertheless, he runs through his lines smoothly, shedding his lyrical light on relatable matters in the society. He is clear as ever, no slurring of words.
In this brief bar-stacked track, his sharp lyrics cut through issues like the hustle for money, representing amidst challenges and the onlookers running their mouth while a nigga's doing shit. You never get enough of all these, and to hear Rodes go on about these things goes a long way to say that “you're not alone in this struggle”.
The hardcore hip hop instrumentals have that repeated bounce that makes the song pop. And he skillfully drops it hot on every beat of the track. Neva mind proves beyond doubt that Rodes is a man on a mission, and you should check this track out, its available on all streaming platforms.
